On Thursday, July 11, the Wausa-Osmond football team hosted an Epic Team Camp in Osmond. Teams participating in the camp included: Wausa-Osmond, EPPJ, GACC, Homer, Mead, North Central, Niobrara/Verdigre, Osceola, Pender, Stanton, Summerland, TCNE, and West Holt.
The one-day camp consisted of some individual coaching from college coaches from Hastings College and Concordia University, pool play against other teams, and point based competitions. There would be a JV level and varsity level to give all kids opportunities.
After all of the points were added up, the team of the camp went to GACC.
Wausa-Osmond finished in fifth place, only 5 points behind first place GACC as it was a very competitive camp.
Besides team awards, the camp staff selected an All-Camp team by position. Named to the All-Camp team as the best offensive lineman was junior Tate Stolpe from Wausa-Osmond.
"Thank you to all of the referees that came to officiate the camp, the camp staff, Otho-West for providing athletic trainers on site, the participating teams, the parents that put together the lunch and served lunch to the almost 400 individuals participating, the Osmond grounds crew for having the fields in great shape, and a big thank you to the Osmond cross country and track and field teams for providing water to everyone throughout the camp," said Coach Bradley Wright.
