CENTER – Candidates are still needed for the Wausa Village Board of Trustees.

As of July 2, no one had filed for one of the two Wausa village board seats that will be on the ballots for the 2024 general election, set for Nov. 5.

The positions of Cheryl Marks and Ron Nelson on the Wausa village board are up for election this year.

The incumbent filing deadline for the general election is 5 p.m. July 15 for the races of Knox County village boards, the Cedar-Knox Public Power District Board of Directors, the North Central Public Power District Board of Directors and the Educational Service Units No. 1 and 8 boards of directors.

An incumbent is anyone currently serving in an elective office, even if it is not the office for which they are filing. Non-incumbents have until Aug. 1 to file.

The Knox County Clerk’s Office in Center will be open until 5 p.m. July 15 to accommodate incumbents and non-incumbents wishing to file for village board races.

The Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office also will be open until 5 p.m. that day to take filings for the public power district board races and the ESU board races.

As a reminder, no write-in votes will be counted unless a person has filed a write-in affidavit and is eligible for the particular race he or she is running for.

People are asked to call Knox County Clerk Joann Fischer at 402-288-5604 if they have any questions on the upcoming general election.
