Knox County supervisors to hear about wind July 10, 24

CENTER – Two Knox County boards are scheduled to hold regular meetings on July 10 in Center.

The county board of supervisors will meet at 9:30 a.m., while the county board of equalization will meet at 10 a.m.

Both boards will gather at the county courthouse. The meetings will be open to the public.

Part of the agenda for the supervisors will see representatives from National Grid Renewables discussing the North Fork Wind Farm at 11 a.m. for about 10 minutes.

The project is proposed to be 600 megawatts in size and contain 130150 wind turbines that each would be between 600 and 650 feet tall.

In related news, a public hearing scheduled for July 24 with the supervisors regarding consideration and action on recommendations from the Knox County Planning Commission on wind energy conversion systems, the location of the public hearing has been changed to The Barn at God’s Country, located north of Center on Highway 84.

Knox County Clerk Joann Fischer noted the public hearing, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. July 24, was moved due to the large number of calls, emails, etc., her office has received asking about it.

An agenda for each board meeting is kept continuously current and is available for public inspection at the county clerk’s office. However, each board upon convening has the right to modify its meeting agenda.
