Brandon Gerdes memorial shoot, swing tourney held

PIERCE – The Eighth Annual Brandon Gerdes Memorial Trap Shoot and Golf Outing was held on Saturday, June 8, at the Northeast Nebraska Shooting Association and the Pierce Community Golf Course.

PIERCE — The Eighth Annual Brandon Gerdes Memorial Trap Shoot and Golf Outing was held on Saturday, June 8, at the Northeast Nebraska Shooting Association and the Pierce Community Golf Course.

"Shooting and golfing were two of Brandon's favorite activities and it is great to get to compete in both in one day!” said Brandon's parents, Corey and Lisa Gerdes. “We are grateful for all those who participated in making this another successful event.”

The trap shoot competition took place in the morning and numerous raffle prizes were given away. In the first flight, top honors went to Todd

Pfeil, with John Eichberger coming in second place and Ron Penne finishing third. Second flight winners were: first place, Lucas Osborn; second place, Chris Schmit, and third place, Robert Vaughn.

From the trap shoot competition, participants moved on to the twoperson golf scramble. Top honors in the first flight went to Jeremy Kumm and Chris Krienert. Joe and Michelle Matuska came in second place and Joe Brown and Ty Nixon placed third.

The second flight winners were: First place, Ali Johnson and Addison Johnson; second Place, Lynn Moeller and Corbin Moeller, and third place, Nolan Aschoff and Brandon Brunckhorst.

It was a fun-filled day with friendly competition, raffle prizes, and numer ous silent and live auction items. Tinker's Catering provided concessions at both sites.

Corey and Lisa would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all who participated in any way to make the day successful. “Brandon would have had fun at this one! We believe in supporting our local youth and community programs to help create a thriving future for our rural lifestyle.”

In the past seven years, the Brandon Gerdes Memorial Foundation has donated over $145,000 to those programs in the area.
