OSMOND — Northeast Power has announced the Osmond generator is 100% operational and will serve as a backup power source to the Osmond area in case of loss of power.
On Dec. 20, 2023, the generator was energized temporarily to be connected to the power grid for a short amount of time to confirm the generator was operational. The testing was done by David Schaefer of High Plains Power Systems LLC. According to Schaefer, the test went as planned and was successful. The Osmond generator is 100% operational and will be utilized in the event of any repairs or unplanned outages that may happen in the area.
Northeast Power decided to purchase the generator in the Fall of 2021 as the quickest and most economical way to provide reliability, resiliency, and redundancy to Osmond area customers. Originally, the substation that serves the Osmond area has a different distribution voltage than the surrounding rural areas, meaning, if repairs were needed or an unplanned outage occurred, then the customers of Osmond would be without power until repairs were made.
NORTHEAST POWER SAYS GENERATOR OPERATIONAL
Installing this new generator reassures residents will not be without power for an extended time in the event of repairs or an outage. Ad- ditional certification is planned for the generator.
Tentatively, on Feb. 27, the Northeast Power team will conduct EPA emissions testing. With this test, there should be no issues with electricity, only noise from the generator.
