OSMOND — Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to attend the GriefShare program being held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond.
This nondenominational program features Christ-centered, Biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. The video seminar features nationallyrespected grief experts and real-life stories of people, followed by small group discussions where participants can share their personal experiences or simply be present and listen.
Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines. Too often in today’s “be happy” society, people including Christians, tend to hide their grief from others and keep it inside.
It is only through outward grieving and the release of emotions and feelings that the ultimate healing of a torn-apart heart can begin. By sharing memories and talking openly about your loved one, the loss of their physical presence slowly transitions into a memory offering peace and hope.
Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. At Grief- Share, you will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend.
No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand the pain of your loss due to experiencing a loss of their own. You will learn valuable information about facing your new “normal” in life and renewing your hope for the future.
GriefShare will be held weekly on Tuesday evenings, Jan. 9 through April 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. Enter through the west entry doors.
