OSMOND - The sacrifices made by those who served their country to maintain its freedoms will be remembered on Monday, May 27. Memorial Day services will be held at 10 a.m.
at the Osmond Community School gym. A mock cemetery will be set up on the lawn on the east side of the school grounds.
The program is under the auspices of American Legion Post 326, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7838, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 326, and the Legion and VFW auxiliaries.
Hallock is Speaker
The Memorial Day speaker for 2024 will be Kristy Hallock. Kristy was raised in South Dakota where watch - ing planes fly was her passion, so she joined the Air Force and became an air traffic controller.
This MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) would lead her into 10 years of active duty, giving her an E-5 rank and taking her to Mississippi, New Mexico, Georgia, Turkey, Italy and
Oman after 9-11 and during Operation
Enduring Freedom in Iraq.
Kristy received her bachelor's de - gree in criminal justice in Colorado. Finding a job she liked took her to Lincoln, NE, where a corrections of - ficer was needed, and where she met her husband, Dan. The job then took them to Madison, NE. Kristy became a certified deputy in corrections and worked three years at the Madison County jail.
Again, "the call" came for a police chief in Plainview and Kristy joined forces, calling Nebraska home for 11 years now.
Kristy and Dan Hallock are the parents of Andrew, Zach and Breanna.
Students to Speak
Other speakers at Monday's pro -
gram will be Cody Gansebom, 2024 Boy Stater, and Ava Reikofski, who
will give patriotic readings.
A roll call of departed Legion and auxiliary members will also take place.
Music will be provided by the Osmond High School band.
The program will conclude on the lawn east of the school where a wreath will be placed on the cross of the unknown, a firing salute will be given and "Taps" will be played by Christalin Ginn and Donovan Heiman.
