CENTER – Planning for the 2024 election cycle is well underway at the Knox County Clerk’s Office in Center.
Candidate filing for this year’s May 14 primary election will begin on Jan. 5. The primary election candidate filing deadline is Feb. 15 for incumbents – anyone serving in an elective office, even if it is not the office for which they are filing – and March 1 for non-incumbents.
Local races that have the Feb. 15 and March 1 filing deadlines are: - Knox County Supervisor District 2. - Knox County Supervisor District 4. - Knox County Supervisor District 6. - Bloomfield City Council members at large.
- Bloomfield City Airport Authority.
- Creighton City Council members at large. - Creighton City Airport Authority. - Crofton City Council members. - Boards of education for Knox County-based school districts: Bloomfield, Creighton, Crofton, Niobrara, Santee, Verdigre and Wausa.
- Boards of education for school districts based outside of Knox County, but with territory in the county: Boyd County, Osmond, Plainview and Summerland.
Federal and state primary election candidates with the Feb. 15 and March 1 deadlines will file with the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office for the following races: - President of the United States.
- U.S. Senate – one with a six-year term and one with a two-year term.
- U.S. House of Representatives’ District 3. - Northeast Community College Board of Governors’ District 2 and at large.
- Nebraska Public Power District’s Subdivision 11. - Lewis & Clark Natural Resources District’s Subdistricts 1, 2 and 3.
- Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District’s Subdistrict 1.
- Lower Niobrara Natural Resources District’s Subdistricts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
