Tigers compete at Conference meet

PONCA — On Saturday, April 27, the Osmond track teams traveled to Ponca for the Lewis & Clark Conference track meet. The host team won both the boys' and girls' divisions in the 16-team field.

The top finisher for the Tigers was senior Hunter Buchanan in the long jump. Hunter placed second with a leap of 20 ft., 2 in. Also in the field events, Xander Brown placed fourth in the discus with a toss of 129 ft., 2 in., a pretty good throw after a leg injury.

On the track, Buchanan earned a fourth-place medal in a very tight field of the 100 meters. His time was 11.73. Brock Jeannoutot won the race in 11.58.

Later in the day, senior Dominic True finished fourth in the 1,600 me ters in another close race. Dominic’s time was 5:01.58, just 5 seconds out of first place. Hugo Parker of Walthill won the race in 4:56.74.

Dominic also placed seventh in the 3,200 meters. In the conference meet, they score eight places. His time was 10:54.14, again behind event winner Parker. Winning time was 10:34.74.

In the relay races, Osmond placed all three. Best finish was the 3,200-re - lay team at fifth place. The team members were Jaxon Vinson, Caleb Vinson, Matthew Alderson, and Dominic True and their time was 9:07.21. Ponca won the relay in a time of 8:47.37.

The Tiger 400-relay team placed sixth in a time of 48.07. Running for Osmond were Noah Geneski, Mason True, James Doyle and Buchanan.

Bloomfield won this race in a time of 45.78.

In the final race of the day, Osmond placed seventh in the 1,600-relay. The team of Owen Severson, Mason True, Jaxon Vinson, and Dominic True were clocked at 3:59.02. Ponca also won this event in a time of 3:35.91.

For the girls, senior Anabelle Vin- son was the closest to making the finals or scoring. She just missed the finals of the discus with a mark that placed her 10th in the field.

“Congratulations to our placers and to those producing a season’s best effort,” noted Coach Joe Ortmeier “the Lewis & Clark conference has some really good teams in it.”
