CREIGHTON — On Tuesday, April 23, Osmond track teams traveled to Creighton for their invitational.
The boys came away with the top spot, scoring 131 points to Wausa’s 122. The girls scored 55 points for a fifth-place finish. Wausa's girls won with 137 points.
The Tigers earned seven gold medals. For the girls’ team, starting in the field, freshman Klaire Johnson won the gold medal in the triple jump with a leap of 31 ft., 4 in., her longest ever.
Classmate Charley Aschoff won the 300 hurdles in a time of 56.4, all times hand held.
For the boys, senior Hunter Buchanan won the long jump and the 100 meters. In the long jump, he hit a personal best mark of 21 ft., .5 in., and in the 100 meters he won the race in 11.5.
Dominic True won the 1,600 meters in a time of 5:01.2. Xander Brown won the discus with a solid throw of 157 ft., 8 in. The 400-relay team also finished first in a time of 46.7
with team members Noah Geneski, Xander Brown, James Doyle, and Hunter Buchanan.
Additional medal winners for the girls were Charley Aschoff, third in the 100 meters in a time of 13.9.
Addison Miller finished fifth in the 400 meters in 1:23.6. Keli Aschoff and Deanna Kumm both placed in the 1,600 meters. Keli placed third in 6:51.1 and Deanna finished sixth in 7:32.2, both personal best times.
Sophie Gansebom earned a fourthplace medal in the high jump with a jump of 4 ft., 4 in., and Anabelle Vinson finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 83 ft., 6.5 in.
The girls had two relay teams place.
The 1,600-relay team of Anabelle Vinson, Abby Brown, Charley As- choff, and Klaire Johnson finished in
third place in a time of 5:00.9. The 3,200-relay team finished fourth in a time of 13:03.9 with team members Sophie Gansebom, Abby Brown, Klaire Johnson, and Keli Aschoff.
Additional boys medal winners were sixth place finish in the 200 meters by Hunter Buchanan in a time of 24.7, James Doyle and Nicholas Velasco both placed in the 400 meters.
James was second in a time of 56.8 and Nicholas was sixth in 59.5. In the 800 meters Jaxon Vinson placed third in a time of 2:16.8 and Caleb Vinson finished in sixth place in 2:24.5.
The 1,600 meters had two placers.
After Dominic True won the race, Matthew Alderson finished fifth in 5:34.8. Caleb Miller just missed a medal at seventh place. In the 3,200 meters Mathew Alderson placed third and Jack Berg next in fourth place.
Matthew’s time was 12:33.9 and Jack covered the distance in 12:48.3.
Osmond hurdlers scored well, as in the 110 high hurdles Noah Geneski finished second in 17.9 and Dono van Heiman was fourth in a time of 20.5. Three Tigers placed in the 300 hurdles with Owen Severson second in 46.5, Noah Geneski third in 46.8, and Donovan Heiman sixth in a time of 52.1.
In the field events, Owen Severson placed fifth with a leap of 18 ft., 9 in.
The triple jump saw two Osmond jumpers score. Both freshmen, Kaleb Gardner was third with a leap of 37 ft., 9 in. and Austin Napier was sixth with a mark of 33 ft., 7 in.; both distances were personal best efforts. Xander Brown finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 42 ft., 9.5 in.
Besides winning the 400-relay the Tigers also finished second in the 3,200-relay in a time of 9:14.8.
Team members were Jaxon Vinson, Caleb Vinson, Matthew Alderson, and Dominic True. The 1,600-relay team placed third in a time of 4:01.6 with team members Owen Severson, Mason True, Jaxon Vinson, and Noah Geneski.
