OSMOND — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 326 met Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. starting with Americanism essay contest winners announced and prizes given. The winners were: Grades 9-12 - first place, Ava Reikofski; seventh and eighth grades - first place, Claire Steinkraus, second place, Sunny Geneski; fifth and sixth grade - first place, Klaire Stech, second place, Kendra Gardner; third and fourth grade - first place, Clara Steffen, second place, Bennett Aschoff.
Winners read their essays to parents and Auxiliary members. All participants were mentioned and given a participation award. Other participants were Raelynn Schieffer, Olivia Vinson, Sam Harder, Axton Stech, Devin Stech, Peyton Aschoff, Hudson Steinkraus, Gwenny Geneski, Emmett Hoff - man, Gage Krienert, Michael Vinson, Bentley Frank, Payton Stech, Lucas Arneson, Evynn Kumm and Aiden Stech. Refreshments were served and all enjoyed visiting.
The Auxiliary meeting was then called to order by President Barb Rhode with eight members present. Opening prayer was led by Chaplain Holly Koehler, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, Preamble and the singing of the “National Anthem.”
Diane Borst shared that the annual membership book will be updated in May and that the constitution, bylaws and standing rules were sent to state. Also discussed was the Memorial Day program and meal following.
Michelle Reikofski shared information on Poppy Day, which is Thursday, May 23, and set up members who will be helping out.
Closing prayer was led by Chaplain Koehler. The next American Legion Auxiliary meeting will be held Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m. with a salad luncheon to honor our Gold Star member, LaVon Moes.
