WAUSA – The TeamMates Mentoring Program of Wausa is nearing the end of another successful year.

On April 9, the Wausa chapter celebrated a fun evening and senior recognition night for 2023-24. Its mentee-mentor matches were invited to attend a walking taco meal and games, and to make a small decoration for the residents of Countryside Villa in Wausa.

This year, two Wausa High School seniors were recognized: Colton Hagemann and Claire Kumm.

Colton began his TeamMates journey when he lived in Wahoo. He moved to Wausa in 2017, when he was first matched with Paula Wiese, until she moved away. He is currently matched with mentor Bob Marks.

Colton and Bob have been matched for two years and have enjoyed hanging out with each other immensely, playing a variety of games and just visiting. At this time, Colton is undetermined as his plans after graduation.

Claire has been matched with mentor Haley Rasmussen since 2021, Claire’s freshman year of high school. Before being introduced to each other, Claire gave Haley the biggest hug, and Chris Johnson, Wausa Team-Mates’ match coordinator, knew that the two would be the perfect match.

Chris was right, as Claire and Haley have had a great relationship and have had a lot of fun these past years getting to know each other. Claire plans to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., next year.

The mission of TeamMates is to positively impact the world by inspiring students to reach their full potential through mentoring. The Wausa chapter hopes its mentees will succeed in whatever their future holds.

As always, Wausa TeamMates is always looking for future mentors to help other students fulfill their dreams. If interested, potential mentors may contact Chris at wausateammates2019@ gmail.com or sign up online at teammates.org.
