PLAINVIEW — The Osmond Tigers competed in the Neligh-Oakdale invitational on Tuesday, April 9. The meet was moved to the Plainview track facility due to wet conditions at Neligh-Oakdale’s track.

Osmond's boys' team finished one point out of third place in the 10-team field, led by gold medal winners Dominic True and Xander Brown. Dominic won the 3,200 and 1,600 meters and Xander won the discus.

In the 3,200 meters, Dominic took the lead immediately and was never challenged in the eight-lap race, finishing nearly 300 meters ahead of second place Isaac Wooldrik of GACC. Dominic’s time was 10:51.1, which is his best time for that distance; second place time was 11:34.0. Later, Dominic won the 1,600 meters also in a personal best time of 4:59.3. Second place time was 5:17.8, run by Waylon Warneke of Elkhorn Valley.

Xander Brown won the discus by 10 feet over second place Korbin Warner of Elkhorn Valley. Xander’s winning distance was 144 ft., 9 in., his personal best effort. Teammate Carson Bolz placed fifth with a toss of 111 ft., 2 in. Xander also finished in third place in the shot put with a distance of 41 ft., 8 in. Carson Bolz made the final, but did not place. Also in the field, senior Hunter Buchanan placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 19 ft., 0 in.

On the track, Osmond’s 3,200-re- lay team finished in second place to Plainview. The Tigers ran a time of 9:13.8 behind the Pirates 9:11.0. Team members were Jaxon Vinson, Caleb Vinson, Caleb Miller, and Dominic True. The 400-relay team placed third with a time of 48.7. Tiger team members were Mason True, Austin Napier, James Doyle, and Hunter Buchanan.

Jaxon Vinson earned a third-place finish in the 800 meters with his best time of 2:16.0. In the 200 meters, Hunter Buchanan and James Doyle both scored for the Tigers. Hunter finished fourth in 25.3 and James placed sixth in 25.5. Earlier, they both made the finals of the 100 meters with Hunter placing fourth in 11.6, and James did not place. James did place sixth in the 400 meters in 57.3.

The Osmond 1,600-relay team finished in fifth place. The team of Owen Severson, Dominic True, Mason True, and Jaxon Vinson were timed in 3:56.3.

Anabelle Vinson scored a fourth place finish in the discus. Her distance of 94 ft., 4 in. was her best throw ever. Also in the throws, Ava Reikofski made the finals of the shot put but did not place.

On the track, the Tiger hurdlers Erica Heiman and Charley Aschoff both made the 100 meter hurdles.

Erica finished fourth in 18.1 and Charley did not place. Erica also made the finals of the 100 meters, but did not score.

“I would like to congratulate Dominic and Xander for their gold medal effort,” praised Coach Joe Ortmeier. “Their hard work is paying off. As a team, we have shown improvement in many areas.”
